You bought a synthetic wig and you want to know how to look after it. With proper care, you can extend the life of and number of times you can wear your synthetic wig. Our guide covers
Shedding - Synthetic wigs shed hair because of how they are made. Expect 6 months of everyday wear if cared for correctly. Note that human hair wigs that are made the same way, will shed the same amount. Only full lace hand-tied wigs have a much longer shelf life and can last 1 to 2 years and more depending on how well it is looked after.
Tangling - many synthetic wigs tangle a lot. Even some of the styles in our collection. Generally, the longer the style the more likely it is to tangle. Untangling is easy - combing through with a hot hair brush or with a handheld fabric steamer will get your wig back to new.
Shelf life - If taken care of, you can get up to 6 months of everyday wear out of a synthetic.
Styling - Our wigs are heat friendly so you can use your curling or straightening iron on them. We recommend a medium to high setting working quickly through the hair.
Washing - We recommend a light touch when washing your wig. Remove any tangles from the wig and fill a sink or a bucket with water and add fabric softener. Swish the wig round in the water washing it but taking care not to rub - rubbing will create more tangles. Rinse off with warm water. If you only need to wash the inside of the cap, just warm soapy wipe will be sufficient. Air dry on a clothes hanger or a drying rack. If you dry it with a blow drier it will affect the style!
Storage - If you are not wearing your wig, we recommend you use a foam mannequin head or stand to store it. This ensures your wig maintains its shape and style.
